Infrastructure Intelligence: Real-Time Access to In-Depth Data Helps Keep Assets Safe and Secure.

DYWIDAG launches immediately and globally data visualization and analytics tool Infrastructure Intelligence (II).

Today’s infrastructure faces unprecedented challenges, including many that its original designers and builders did not anticipate. The pressures of megacities, earthquakes, rising sea levels and corrosive pollutants are now unavoidable. Since the start of the new millennium, there have been 113 major bridge collapses, resulting in 57 deaths.1 The ACSE recently gave US infrastructure a “D+” rating: 40% of bridges in the United States are 40+ years old, and the average dam is 56 years old.2

The problems of aging infrastructure are equally acute in Europe. According to the European commission, “the majority of EU countries must invest and address maintenance issues to ensure serviceability and safety. This includes increasing the number of inspections, investing into structural health monitoring systems and prioritizing interventions...”.3

Global construction business DYWIDAG is investing in technological innovations to address the infrastructure crisis. As an answer to address the global infrastructure crisis, DYWIDAG has developed Infrastructure Intelligence (II). Designed to simplify lifespan management of critical infrastructure and offer peace of mind to owners of large assets, II revolutionizes the storage, processing, visualization and reporting of complex engineering data in these assets.

DYWIDAG has developed II — formerly known as Platform Interactive — around Microsoft Azure’s cloud-based platform. This means that II is a scalable solution that offers high availability and protection against data center failure.

Smart Technology: Critical to Today’s Asset Management

II offers 24/7 access to analytics and reporting from any device. Users can monitor a structure’s performance data, in detail, remotely and in real time. In addition, II can push important notifications direct to users’ phones via email or SMS. This gives engineers and managers the ability to detect and deal with problems before they become critical. Faster detection and response times help to reduce costs and improve safety and forward planning.

II tracks essential on-site data like temperature, weather, impact and movement. It processes millions of data points per day from multiple sensors and sensor types, also from many manufactures sensor systems. This data is represented visually via a user dashboard and an interactive chart engine that is personalized to individual assets and managers, allowing at-a-glance analysis of an asset’s overall status as well as detailed data for deep analysis. Imagery can be tailored for the analysis of site sections and easily compared with project documentation.

Speeding up response times, delivering peace of mind

The main value II offers is peace of mind. As an all-in-one technology solution, it allows asset owners and operators to sleep easy at night, knowing that they, or their staff, will be notified of problems instantly, and have the data they need to address them at their fingertips.

Moreover, II helps asset owners meet all the legal and social obligations that come with modern infrastructure management. II is designed to offer information that is concise, contextualized and tailored to the real needs of asset managers.
